moondog - the story of

moondog is mostly a self-taught composer (born in 1916). he lost his sight in his early teens when a dynamite cap exploded. he studied music and finished high school at the iowa school for the blind, and in 1933 studied braille at the missouri school for the blind in st. louis. he began using the name moondog since 1947 in honor of a dog that used to howl at the moon.

his music is often categorized under avant-garde, minimal or jazz labels. most of the music on this album is polyrhythmic percussion, including woodwinds & strings. enjoy :)

jaime meline, el-producto or el-p is an underground hip-hop producer and rapper from new york city.

the music of fantastic damage is carefully constructed and sonically intricate. distorted guitars, cacophonous, high-pitched ringing, and spiraling screams comprise its musical motifs. lyrically, el-p eschews hip-hop's straightforward style for fits of associative word clusters that sound like a freestyle battle between a marxist pamphlet and a technical manual. "motherfucker, does this sound abstract?" el-p howls on one early track. "i hope that it sounded more confusing than that."

i don't usually post 2 albums in the same month, but i couldn't resist.. i was listening this one all morning today so i wanted to share it.

giorgos christianakis (γιώργος χριστιανάκης) - composer born in thessaloniki, greece in 1961. he graduated from law school and started his studies in classical piano at the age of 17. since 1982 he is experimenting in the fields of electronic music. at the same time he records in studios and plays live with many well known bands of greece such as τρύπες, a priod, da capo, rodondo rocks and more.

lexaunculpt - live at method

Lex has a sound that is hard to descibe, but it is absolutely amazing. He has a touch of an Autechre feel, but he's not just another IDM rip off. He combines old-school break beats with electro-bleeps and various other noises.
His sound and feel is untouchable.
